A note before starting -

Please understand - the below diagrams are genuinely and carefully designed to help you navigate the build process. However, we don’t include specific recommendations for which tools, hardware, or products to use. These truly are “DIY” designs.

As such – a significant portion of the build-process will be up to you, the builder. So please know, there is no “right” or “wrong” way to assemble any of our designs! If you need to depart from the instructions, or rearrange things along the way, feel free to.

The only thing we ask: please be safe and use glasses and gloves while building. And of course, there’s no shame in asking an expert for help or seeking guidance from your local professionals at any time.

PVC Cat Nest Bed Assembly Steps

How do you know which part is which from the parts list? Click on "Edit Design in 3D" button above and you'll be able to click on each part to see its name.

Step 1: Building the Superior Frame of the Cat Nest Bed

The first step is to clean all your PVC pipes, then measure each piece according to your part list and cut them carefully.

Once you have all the parts ready make sure to sand them in case they are dirty, and if they aren't, we still recommend doing this since it helps the paint to avoid getting easily scratched. This is a very easy project for DIYers, and we will start from the top to the bottom.

For this section you’ll need four PVC 3-Way Outlets, two 6.3” PVC tubes, two 7.9” tubes, four 15.7” PVC tubes and two 15.92” tubes.

You'll grab four 3-way outlets and your 1" PVC pipes with a length of 15.7".

Use PVC cement and remember that it dries very fast! So be careful!

So you'll connect four 15.7" PVC pipes with the 3-way connectors and the other 2 pipes will be placed on the 3-way outlets on your right. Then grab your 2 pipes with a 6.3" pipe length and place them at the 3-way outlet on your left.

As you can see your 6.3” pipe is connected to a 7.9” pipe through a 3-way outlet.

Make sure to double check the measurements of the pipes and where you are placing them, since the cement is very strong.

This is how it should look.

Step 2: Building the Frame for the Base of the Cat Nest Bed

We're now working on the lower section of the cat nest bed. This includes the legs of the nest bed; you can add PVC caps if desired. This section will also connect with the superior section we built earlier.

Grab four 4-way outlets and connect the four 15.7" PVC pipes to form the base, then add two 15.7" PVC pipes and two 7.9" PVC pipes to the other 4-way outlets. The small legs are made out of 3'' high PVC pipes.

Now we will place the frame we built previously on the middle base. One side connects to the 7.9" pipes and the other connects to the 6.3" pipes on the 3-way outlet.

As you can see, the structure has holes for the 4-way outlets pointing in front of it. This is where we will place the third section of the cat nest bed that has a hammock and the rolling pipes covered with rope.

Step 3: Building the Hammock Section for the Cat Nest Bed

For this section you'll glue together two 3-way outlets to the four 15.7" pipes, then add this finished part to the 15.8" PVC pipe tube. You’ll then glue the rest of the 15.7” long PVC pipes to the 3-way outlets and the 4-way outlets. The legs measure 12.41'' and will be connected to the lower 4-way outlets.

Once you have this section done, add the wide PVC tube, which should be 1 1/2 " PVC wide, and this should be affixed to the lower 15.7" PVC pipes that connect to the 3-way outlets of the main structure. The rope can be glued together with acrylic bars to the 1 1/2 " PVC pipes.

The section with the rolling pipes is actually the base for the hammock.

You can always go back to the 3D design and confirm the measurements and where the part should be placed, in case you have any doubts.

Step 4: The Perfect Finish for the PVC Cat Nest Bed

And finally, let's give the structure the desired finish. We used a primer of gray paint and then brown paint. Make sure to cover each inch of pipe. You should also sand the 3-way and 4-way outlets and the tee slips so the paint doesn't fall easily.
